Trails
Welcome to the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds Nature Trail! Local ponds and wetlands play a crucial role in supporting biodiversity in our ecosystem. They provide habitat for various wildlife species, including a wide variety of insects, frogs, turtles, snakes, waterfowl, songbirds, bats and shorebirds. As you explore the trail, take a moment to appreciate the diverse wildlife near the water's edge. As you meander in and out of the wooded area, enjoy the variety of trees that surround you, such as the American sycamore, the towering Cottonwood and a favorite of local mammals, the Persimmon.
Speaking of trees, look closely as you walk the trail. In coordination with Du Quoin High School students, several trees have been identified and QR coded. Enjoy learning about our natural world with technology at your fingertips.
Things to note:
- Trail open dawn to dusk
- No fees to enter
- Please remember that pets must be on a leash to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.
