Envirothon 2024 Renewable Energy for A Sustainable Future

Please contract Bethany Ingram @ 618-684-3471 Ext 101 To hold a regional land use competition that will test the students’ knowledge on a variety of natural resource topics Forestry, Aquatics, Soils, Wildlife, & 5th Category “Renewable Energy for a Sustainable Future”. The winning team will then be sent to the state Envirothon competition which the SWLUC #15 will pay for registration costs. Our Southwest Land Use Council #15 competition usually has about 17 teams from surrounding counties Perry, Jackson, Williamson, Pulaski- Alexander, Union Counties with 91 students participating from our five soil and water conservation districts. Volunteers from many agencies assist in holding this competition. These agencies include other SWCDs, NRCS, IDNR forester and wildlife biologist and fisheries biologist, IDOA Regional Rep., Ag literacy program coordinators. We have volunteers that help write the tests and administer the tests as well as additional activities as needed.
